This Privacy Policy explains how Archie The Scout collects, uses, and protects information when you use our Chrome browser extension and website. We built Archie to help you shop smarter — not to harvest your data.
The short version: Archie reads product data on shopping pages only when you trigger a scan. We don't track your browsing, don't sell your data, and don't store anything we don't need.
01WHAT ARCHIE READS ON YOUR BROWSER
When you activate a scan, the extension reads:
- →The product name, price, and identifiers (UPC, EAN, ASIN, or MPN) visible on the page
- →The URL of the page you are currently viewing
- →Structured product data embedded by the retailer (e.g. schema.org metadata)
This data is processed in real time and is not stored on our servers, transmitted to third parties for advertising, or retained after your scan.
Archie does not read your browsing history. It does not activate on pages where you have not explicitly triggered a scan.
02ON-DEVICE STORAGE
Archie stores data locally using Chrome's built-in storage APIs only. This data never leaves your device.

We do not use cookies in the extension.
03INFORMATION COLLECTED ON OUR WEBSITE
When you sign up for the waitlist, we collect your first name and email address. This is stored securely with our email service provider and used exclusively to:
- →Send you a confirmation email when you join the waitlist
- →Notify you when Archie launches
- →Communicate product updates and launch announcements
We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with any third party for marketing purposes. You can unsubscribe at any time.
04PAYMENTS & SUBSCRIPTIONS
Pro subscriptions are processed by a third-party payment processor. When you purchase:
- →All payment details are entered on the processor's secure checkout page
- →Archie never sees, receives, or stores your card details
- →We only receive a subscription status and a customer identifier
Our payment processor's privacy policy governs payment data handling. A link to their policy is available at checkout.
05ANALYTICS & CRASH REPORTING
We collect anonymised usage events to fix problems and improve the product:
- →Extension installed or uninstalled
- →A scan was started or completed
- →The free tier scan limit was reached
- →The upgrade prompt was shown or acted upon
These events do not include page content, which products you searched for, or any personally identifiable information.
06WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT
Archie does not collect:
- →Your browsing history or a list of sites you visit
- →Page contents outside of an active scan
- →Personal information beyond name and email from the waitlist
- →Financial information of any kind
- →Location data
- →Device identifiers
07THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
We work with third-party providers in these categories:

When you use Archie, pricing data requests go directly from your browser to retailers. Each retailer's own privacy policy applies to those requests.
08DATA RETENTION
Waitlist email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. We do not retain any other personal data on our servers.
Data stored locally on your device can be cleared by removing the extension.
09YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to:

10CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Archie is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Contact hello@archiethescout.com to report and we will delete promptly.
11POLICY CHANGES
Material changes will be flagged by updating the “Last updated” date and notifying waitlist subscribers by email before the change takes effect. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
